Despite today’s painful loss, there was some good that came out of it. I ventured down the street to the little hole in the wall pub that gets filled to the brim with Steeler fans on game days. It was awesome, I was feeling a little homesick this weekend and I totally needed that.
I got there at the end of the first quarter (hey, getting out of bed way early on Sunday is just wrong) and I was greeted with the news that Maddox was starting. Lovely. The place was crazy and filled with ex-Pittsburghers (or people from Texas that thought it would be a better idea to cheer for the Steelers instead of the Cowboys, can’t say I blame him). Nearly everyone had their Steelers gear on and terrible towels were everywhere. For a hour or two at least, I was in Pittsburgh. There were “Here we go Steelers” and "De-fense" chants.
And only Amy will get this, but I was talking to this guy who was from Squirrel Hill and I told him I worked for the JCC one summer and turns out he worked at J&R one summer too! Way before we did, he was a few years older, but we talked about Rachel standing at the top of the hill and just screaming at everyone, lol.
Of course, there were tons of “Maddox, you suck” comments being yelled. Was he really that bad before? But, I guess he had a decent season when his primary skill was not being Kordell Stewart. He makes Ben look like Marino and Batch can’t possibly be any worse. I just hope Maddox doesn't start next week. He was just beyond awful and pretty much lost the game for us.
I also found out the cool pirate bar down the street is a Pats bar, so Chris and Brandon, the Buccaneer is for you. I am having second thoughts about that bar now.
And next weekend, I’ll be dragging my butt out of bed to get to the bar by 10 am while we play the team with the ugliest uniforms ever, the Bengals. And how they are 5-1 and we are 3-2 is beyond me.

As far as maddox, he's making all kinds of excuses and he's upset with the city because he was booed. "after all i've done for this city, i was very disappointed"...please, hes looking more and more like kordell and odonnell...BEN COME BACK NOW!!!
You peeps are harsh on Tommy. I, for one, feel bad for him because really, when he's measured against Ben, of course he is gonna look worse. Doh. But Amy told me ALL about overtime, so... yeah... ;)
not only did tommy play horrible, he hid an injury from cowher and his team. He was looking out for himself and not the team....definitely NOT a good thing.....he better never play for the steelers again! :-O
