Career Moves

Good advice from an unlikely source, Suze Orman, the way too peppy financial guru:

"Try to picture yourself in your current career ten or twenty years down the line. If it’s not a pretty picture, you should be thinking about planning a career switch now. Or you’ll wake up a few years from now and can’t believe you are the middle-aged, slump-shouldered person you vowed you would never become. Why would you set yourself up to spend your life miserable five days a week?

I didn’t settle. I made up my mind that there was a big difference between a job that simply paid the bills and a career that I could enjoy and grow in.

You have a great education, great skills, and great energy. You have what it takes to succeed in a career that truly interests and excites you. If that sounds too rah-rah for you, that’s your first problem. If you don’t think you’re fabulous, if you don’t have incredible confidence in yourself, you will never have the strength to go after what can make you happy. Don’t tell me you are willing to sell yourself so short."

I highly recommend Orman’s book, "The Money Book for the Young, Fabulous & Broke," despite the fact that she tries too hard to sound like a twenty-year old sometimes. If you can get past that and double-check all the information, she really does have some sound advice. Some of it is controversial, but its a good book for understanding money matters, especially when you don’t know much about Roths, paying off student loans (yuck), FICO scores, buying a house (ha, where am I going to come up with a million to buy a house here?), and other financial info.

More pics to post, but we all know how I like to take my time with that.

I think I met girl in Prague who did field work for that NFT book collection. She was really hot.
