So I've graduated... I have a Bachelor of Science in Professional and Technical Communication, I'm still not really sure what that means. I packed up most of my stuff in Perkins and moved back Pittsburgh two weeks ago.
Reflecting back on my five years at RIT...Its like that feeling you get at the end of a good book or movie, you just feel content. So long, its been fun, see you later. But, saying goodbye to my Erin, Rachel, and Jen...Our book isn't finished yet. Same goes for the rest of my RITers. Standing outside of Perkins that Sunday morning, we all cried. Three girls who started out as simply roommates and turned into three best friends, how do you say bye to them?
I gave them hugs and said "see you later," all too aware that I was leaving the familiar and comforting behind while not knowing what lies ahead. As I got in the car, tears streamed down my face, but I know we'll never be too far apart, at least not in the way that really matters. And that's the way it is.
It ended on a good note though, I had some food at good ole MacGregs with Burns, Munns, Jim and Sode. I probably would have been a major mess on the five hour drive home if it wasn't for that.
These past two weeks I haven't really done much of anything. A lot of reflecting and thinking, a little bit of unpacking and cleaning, and tons of sleep. This week I've started to get back to my old self, running around and getting lots of things done. Things are getting crossed off the to do list, resumes are being sent, networking is getting underway.
I was at a job fair for a new local mall that is opening because I can't stand sitting around my house staring at the computer and TV waiting for someone to call or e-mail me. And while I was talking to someone, I hit my element, that feeling I know that I'm going in the right direction. Sales is a lot like PR, its all about customer service, believing in your product and getting total strangers to buy it. I'll be pitching reporters soon enough, believing in my client's product and getting them to write about it.
I'm heading to Rochester/Buffalo this weekend. Some chilling with the guys in Rochester, Erin's graduation party, possibly visiting Kathy and my Dad, and maybe some shopping at Grove City on my way back home. Time to get my stuff together so I can get to Rochester in the afternoon.
